As the Rutland’s PS-1 fleet arrived starting in 1954, many of the wood-bodied box cars were sold off for scrap or non-railroad use. Some of the 40-foot cars did remain on the roster and in use up to the end of the roster. These cars were used for less-than-carload (l-c-l) service as well as local shipments where both shipper and receiver were served by the Rutland. The cars were not used in interchange. With the help of RRHS-member Steve Mumley, posted below are the cars that were still on the roster and in use in 1959.
